A bibliophile's dream come true. i expected something more book-dorky, but it was just like reading a childrens adventure story. My German husband had read this book in German when he was younger and was keen for me to read it in the English translation, I really enjoyed it and it is a very engaging book and after he read it he was very impressed that they had captured everything from the original German version in the translation. But alas, The City of Dreaming Books has many good characters, including Optimus. It is also very silly in a “Monty Python-esque” fashion.
